An inspiring one on one with Deepali Mahajan, a supermom from JLL.

I am passionate about my workouts and exercise. I am particularly fond of heavy weight training which women are not generally into. I am all of 45 years old and I lift heavier weights than all younger and older women at my gym. My trainer has uploaded my videos online to inspire women to weight train which is extremely good for them particularly as they age and move closer to menopause.

I also practice power yoga regularly as well as pranayama and meditation. My ambition is to start running as well and participate in the Marathon next year. I learned how to swim at the age of 40 and I love to swim as well. I believe ideally workout through the week should include strength training, cardio & flexibility.

I am also particular about my diet. I have been eating small (home cooked meals) / healthy snacks at regular intervals. I avoid bread, sweets, fried foods, aerated drinks etc. I have also developed many healthy recipes with oats & sprouts dosa, moong & rajgira chilla, my very special omega 3 laddoos etc. I truly believe health is wealth. I feel very happy to see that more and more people around me are developing healthy habits such as exercising regularly, eating healthy food and practicing yoga & meditation. I am always happy to hand out advise on diet and exercise to all interested. There are so many prevalent myths around both that need busting!

I am also particular about sleeping for 8 hours a day which is as important as exercise if not more.

As a woman grows older, she ages in many more ways as compared to a man having to combat lifestyle-related female-specific issues such as thyroid, PCOD, menopause, obesity, osteoporosis etc. I feel a healthy diet, exercise, sleep, and meditation are essential to combat aging.

Work-life balance is especially essential in a woman’s life with all the chores she needs to manage. I sometimes feel I end up working more on weekends than on working days. In life, I would prioritize health over everything else. Because only when you are healthy and happy can you take care of others!

I am very excited to explore all features of the Zoojoobe App. I am using it to improve my habit of forgetting to drink water regularly during my busy daily routine. I had registered for a seminar which I could not, unfortunately, attend due to work. Plan to attend as many seminars in the future that I can attend.

I am passionate about fitness. I believe weight training is essential for women. I also do power yoga. My ambition is to do a full marathon.

2.  What in your opinion is the idea of healthy mind and body?

Today, stress is the biggest killer and killing stress is the key to a healthy mind and body. Exercising regularly, eating moderately, practicing yoga and meditation will keep your body healthy and mind stress-free.

 3.  What is your take on work-life balance? How do you find the balance?

Work-life balance is essential to unwind and spend quality time with family and self. The Me-time is necessary for nourishing the body and the mind. I find the balance by getting up early, going to work early, and finishing work early to reach home well in time. This gives me an opportunity for spending quality time with my family and then hitting the gym.

5. How is Zoojoobe helping you with your health and wellness goals? What can we do better?

Zoojoobe is helping me learn more about healthy habits and set goals for the habits. It also helps me with reminders to maintain the habits that i form. I love the section of mindfulness that helps me meditate and relax. I can use it as a tool to achieve a healthy body and mind. Would suggest a section devoted to women on tackling issues specific to women such as PMS, PCOD, menopause etc. Also a section on tackling lifestyle-related health issues such as obesity, thyroiditis, diabetes, fatty liver, high BP etc.
