With what seems like an ever increasing workload and continuously decreasing time for ourselves, we often find ourselves rushing to work every morning and naturally, in this process, it is pretty “normal” to skip breakfast. It is quite understandable that you want to hit the snooze button twice than wake up to make yourself something to eat.We often think that those 10 minutes of extra sleep will keep us from dozing off during office hours but it does just the opposite. It may seem like it’s not a big deal at the moment but eventually it does our body more harm than good, bringing in all the dangerous diseases like diabetes which sticks to you for a lifetime once it catches you. So keeping that in mind, we curated a bunch of easy peasy breakfast ideas for busy professionals that you cannot really go wrong with. And what better? These can be made in no time at all!
- Oatmeal Pancakes
Blend a cup of oatmeal, 1 banana, a cup of milk and an egg together. On a non stick pan spread a dollop of pancake batter, cook on both sides and super delish pancakes ready!
- Peanut butter smoothie
The best thing about smoothies is the fact that it basically takes less than 3 minutes to fix yourself one. Plus they are quite filling and will keep the hunger pangs at bay till lunchtime.Toss in a tablespoon of peanut butter, some ice cubes, a cup of yogurt and a banana if you may!Churn it all up and have it in a bowl or your favourite sipper. You can even sprinkle some dark chocolate chips on top.
- Egg and Tuna Sandwiches
Now, traditionally this recipe calls for boiled eggs but nobody has that kind of time in our busy lives! Scramble up an egg on low heat, peel open a can of tuna- to make it healthier, use tuna chunks in water instead of oil or brine. Add a little mayonnaise, season it with salt and pepper and place it between a couple of toasted whole wheat breads. To give it an Indian touch, you can even roast some mustard seeds and curry leaves and add it to your Egg and Tuna mix. It just tastes awesome.
- All Inclusive Scrambled Eggs
Unless, you hate the sight of eggs or if you are a vegetarian, eggs are quite the versatile option for a healthy breakkie. You can sauté almost any vegetable you have lying around and scramble a couple of eggs in the end. This option might not keep you full for very long but this will give you an excuse to munch on that apple later.
- Savoury Pancakes or Chilla
Keeping the International breakfast ideas aside, we Indians have some pretty good breakfast options too! Mix some gram flour, water, chilli powder, coriander leaves and salt and spread a thin layer of it on a non stick pan. Let it cook so you can serve it up with some ketchup. If you have the time, you can get pretty creative with this dish. You can add some grilled cottage cheese and dhaniya chutney and roll it up or add any leftover spicy gravy from last night and make your version of a healthy roll.
So next you find yourself in a rush, simply take five minutes out and make yourself any of these quick fixes. You would rather arrive a little late than harm your body in the long run. After all, it is rightly said that “ All happiness begins with a leisure breakfast”.
